Switch Hold Confirmation

Thank you for choosing Green Mountain Energy as your retail electric provider. To process your request for electricity service at your new address, your Transmission and Distribution Service Provider (TDSP) requires us to confirm that you are a new occupant.

Please note that your request will remain on hold until we receive the valid required documents. If the documents are approved by the market participant, the Switch Hold will be removed.

Please select the option that most accurately reflects your current circumstance from the options provided below.

  1. New Resident to a location: Complete and return the attached form titled New Occupant Confirmation form. The New Occupant form confirms that you are new to the address where you would like to start new service. If you are not new to the address or you are associated with the Switch Hold occupant, contact your current electricity provider.

    A.    Signed lease — Include the first page that provides the occupants name(s), dates, and service address along with the signature page that has the tenant(s) and landlord signatures.

    B.    Closing documents — The closing document must be dated after the Switch Hold was placed on the address, should include the address, and both buyer and seller signatures.

    C.    Utility bill — Gas, electric, water, cable, or internet bill from a different residence, issued in your name, and dated within the past two months.

    D.    Certificate of occupancy — This certificate is issued by the city or the county and serves as proof that the property is fit for occupancy.  The certificate must be dated after the Switch Hold was applied to the service address.

Please note that the name on the additional documentation provided must match the name and signature on the New Occupant Confirmation Form. Additionally, the date on the documentation should be dated after the Switch Hold was applied to the service address.

  2. Landlord: If you are requesting service as a landlord or on behalf of the apartment complex, please complete and return the Affidavit of Landlord and New Occupant Confirmation forms. Please note that the affidavit of landlord must be notarized.
