The new Avenue Center will encourage clean transportation options for clients and staff
Since 1991, Avenue has been committed to developing affordable housing, and now provides complementary programming including homebuyer education and financial coaching, economic develop activities and robust community building and engagement programs. To date, Avenue has developed 173 single-family homes and 747 rental units.
In order to serve more families, Avenue is building a new Center that will increase its impact by providing resources and support to an additional 2,000 families each year. Sustainability will be on display at the new Avenue Center, in all forms: community sustainability, economic sustainability, and environmental sustainability.
Sun Club contributed $196,318 towards sustainability efforts including a 30 kW rooftop solar array and 5.2 kW array on a parking canopy.
The Center is strategically positioned along the Houston MetroRail to allow people to use mass transit to visit. Sun Club’s grant will support additional clean transportation solutions such as the purchase of an electric vehicle charging station. Employees and visitors will be encouraged to bike to the Center with the addition of bike racks and a shower for employees.
